We’ve probably all had some guests over who don’t seem to know when the time to go is. They’ll probably stay really late, and you might have to go around the house turning all the lights out and cleaning things away to try and give them as many signals as possible! But what if those guests decided to move in with you while causing a lot of terrible smells and sounds at the same time? These aren’t human guests we’re talking about now – I’m on about pests and rodents. These horrible creatures will make their way into your home however they can, and they won’t be so willing to up and leave whenever you want them to!
So, how do you get rid of pests and rodents from your home? Here are some of the most common types and what you can do about them.
Feeling itchy in the middle of the night? You could be sharing your bed with some bed bugs! You might not always be able to spot any bugs in your bed, and the main sign they are there is skin irritations from being bitten. To get rid of them, you need to empty your vacuum cleaner and then give your carpets a very thorough cleaning. Strip your bed and wash the sheets in a very hot wash. Any soft furnishings in the room that cannot be washed but are obviously infested might have to be thrown away.
Got ants in your kitchen? You can put out some baits and traps to try and eliminate the infestation, though this may take some time. It’s also a good idea to spray some bug spray in the ants’ usual paths. Don’t spray them directly, though. The ants you see are just workers – if they die it won’t affect the queen, who is the main one you need to kill. So, kill their usual pathways around the kitchen. They then won’t want to follow them, and will hide away in their nest. Eventually, the colony will starve.
Rats And Mice
The easiest way to get rid of rodents is to call a company like Eco Pro Extermination to come and deal with the infestation. If you want to handle this yourself, you could lay down some homemade traps. Improving your home’s sanitation and fixing any leaking pipes will also encourage the rats and mice to move on.
You need to tackle termites as soon as you realize you have a problem with them. If they are left for too long, they could cause significant damage to any wooden furniture and structures. You can set up traps that contain boric acid as a means to reduce and wipe out the colony. You can also spray any wood in which they are in with pesticides. Take a look online for natural pesticide recipes if you’d rather deal with them in an organic fashion.
Trying to get pests out of your home can be a bit of a nightmare, but these tips should help you!
